Joe Sweeney

Joe brings decades of financial markets and investment management experience to Cornerstone Wealth. In 1984 he started his career in Institutional Equity Sales with Salomon Brothers. After 11 years with Salomon Brothers, Joe founded and managed two long biased hedge funds for nearly 20 years. In 2014 Joe joined Cornerstone Wealth, establishing a Cornerstone office in San Francisco, CA.

Joe leads Cornerstone Business Solutions, focusing on solutions for owners of small and medium sized businesses, including consulting on retirement plans, executive compensation, business sales/transitions and lending/financing roles. Joe also sits on the CWG investment committee.

Joe devotes significant time and energy to non-profit organizations in San Francisco and New Orleans.   Dillard University, an HBCU in New Orleans recently elected Joe to The Board of Trustees, where he sits on the finance, investment and advancement committees. Joe also sits on the advisory board of The Preservation Hall Foundation.  As a longstanding member of the Board of Directors of the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco, Joe sits on the executive committee and chairs the finance committee.  He has previously served on the boards of The Guardsmen od San Francisco (Past President), Catholic Charities/CYO and the Salvation Army.  Joe enjoys hiking, pinball, bridge, power pop, traditional jazz, contemporary literary fiction (particularly the works of Percival Everett, Andrew Sean Greer and Javier Marias) and wine, what a special fondness for Burgundy.

Joe is married to the talented art advisor Laura Smith Sweeney. They, and their lovely college age daughters, Katherine and Alexandra, live in San Francisco and Napa.
