Cornerstone Wealth Group’s Day Out for OPTIVets
When was the last time you saw a finance squad sliding, sprinting, and stretching their way across a kickball field—all in custom green shirts? On July 12th at Torrence Chapel Park in Cornelius, the Cornerstone Wealth Money Ballers did just that—bringing their A-game (and plenty of sunscreen) to the OPTIVets Charity Kickball Tournament for community support for our veterans.
Supporting Heroes, One Kick at a Time
Cornerstone Wealth Group was proud to sponsor this community event, joining forces with OPTIVets—a fantastic Mooresville-based nonprofit dedicated to helping veterans and first responders access innovative wellness treatments. With personal connections to the cause (our own Managing Partner Jeff Carbone’s wife serves on the OPTIVets board!), showing up for this event was a no-brainer. It’s a tradition for CWG to join kickball tournaments, though this was our first rodeo with the OPTIVets crew—and what a day to jump back in!
Money Ballers Assemble
Team spirit was alive and well as the “CWG Money Ballers” suited up in freshly designed green jerseys. Our lineup wasn’t just made of employees; family members jumped in too, making it a real CWG family affair. Before the games began, we assembled for a group stretch—think more “fitness fashion show” than Olympic warm-up, but A for effort all around!
Summer Heat and Sideline Heroes
Let’s talk about the weather: if summer came with a volume knob, July 12th was set to “blazing.” Enter our true MVP, Julie Indovino from our Huntersville office, who worked overtime as our cheerleader and supply officer. With chilled towels, cool water sprays, and every snack you can imagine, Julie kept spirits (and hydration levels) sky-high. Shade breaks under the few lucky trees became hot commodities—no pun intended.
Games, Glories, and Go-Kickball Glory
With at least eight teams on the field (including some seriously skilled Go-Kickball league regulars), the competition was steep. The Money Ballers, however, brought undeniable heart and a dash of comedic athleticism. We battled through the brackets, managed to clinch a thrilling win (cue the celebratory high-fives), and saw some staffers risk it all for impressive, mid-air catches—sometimes with more enthusiasm than grace.
Of course, when you combine blazing heat, intense kickball, and high spirits, you get a couple of, let’s say, “battle scars”—a hamstring pull here, a stretch gone a little too far there. No worries, though—we played on in the name of charity and fun!
And let’s not forget the play of the day: our very own Jeff Carbone sliding, baseball-style, into third base—a Money Ballers moment for the highlight reel! Meanwhile, Partner and team captain Jerett DiMarzio kept our strategy sharp and our sideline support on point.
Playing with the Pros (…And Loving It)
Sure, we weren’t exactly on par with the Go-Kickball league phenoms, but what we lacked in fancy footwork, we made up for in cheer and camaraderie. Competing alongside such talented teams added extra excitement—and a healthy dose of inspiration—for the CWG crew.

At Cornerstone Wealth Group - Huntersville supporting our community isn’t just something we talk about—it’s something we do together. Giving back, sweating it out, sharing a laugh (or an ice pack)—that’s what it’s all about. The OPTIVets Charity Kickball Tournament was a perfect reminder that teamwork and giving back go hand-in-hand.
