At Cornerstone Wealth, giving back is at the core of who we are. On June 24th, that spirit came to life as we hosted a very special Make-A-Wish reveal at our Huntersville, NC office for Tre, his twin brother Dex, and their family—a day filled with laughter, racing, heartfelt community, and hope.

Inspiration Sparked by Community

Our connection to Make-A-Wish is close to home—Jeff Carbone, Managing Partner and Wealth Advisor at Cornerstone Wealth, proudly serves on their board, and many of our employees are deeply involved in their initiatives. After hearing a family share their story at a recent All-Hands event, our entire team felt a powerful drive to help a family in need. Shortly after, the Make-A-Wish team introduced us to Tre’s story—and we instantly knew we wanted to do everything possible to make this wish reveal an event to remember.

Rallying the Team for a Wish

Planning started just two weeks before the event, making it an all-hands-on-deck effort. Julie Indovino led the charge, with help from the full Cornerstone team—everyone came together to create a day filled with joy for Tre and his family. We also reached out to our network, and thanks to a few generous NASCAR drivers, we were able to surprise the twins with signed racing helmets.

Setting the Scene: All Things Racing

When Tre, Dex, and their parents arrived, they were greeted by a dazzling office decorated with an abundance of balloons and vibrant racing-themed décor, including a stunning balloon arch. The racing theme carried through every detail, setting the stage for an afternoon of high-octane fun! As the family walked in, their amazement was clear—the kids were a little nervous at first, but as soon as they saw the mountain of wrapped gifts and shiny mini Lamborghinis, excitement took over.

The Unforgettable Wish Reveal

The big moment arrived: Tre’s face absolutely lit up when he and Dex discovered not one, but two mini Lamborghinis and a third electric race car waiting just for them. At first, the boys were a bit overwhelmed by the spectacle—but it didn’t take long for them to dive into the action! They immediately hopped into their new cars, trying them out down the office hallways and filling the space with laughter. Tre, already a pro at electric cars, took the wheel like a champ. Dex was a little less experienced—much to everyone’s amusement—gently bumping into walls and giggling all the way. The laughter grew even louder when the boys created their own race track in the empty office next door, playfully zooming around, arms in the air, and occasionally playing a few rounds of “bumper cars” (with staff wisely dodging their high-speed hijinks!).

More Than Just Cars: Community and Caring

Gifts poured in from clients and staff, each thoughtfully selected based on Tre’s favorites, from Paw Patrol and Trolls to Peppa Pig and Cars. Local favorite Shake Shack sweetened the event further, donating strawberry milkshakes—one of Tre’s favorites. Balloon blowing, snack arranging, and set-up energy from the whole team made this a truly collaborative celebration.

Heartfelt Moments and Lasting Gratitude

While Tre and Dex raced and played, their parents simply beamed, grateful to see their children so happy and carefree. As one team member shared, “It was a welcoming moment for a child who has gone through so much—and a powerful reminder to be grateful for good health.” The laughter, joy, and sense of camaraderie will stay with us for a long time—especially the moment when the boys nearly ran over half the team (it was absolutely hysterical!).

Working with Make-A-Wish: A Lesson in Giving Back

Collaborating with the Make-A-Wish team was seamless and inspiring. We learned the true value and impact of community involvement and saw firsthand how just a little effort can change a child’s perspective and bring a smile during truly rough times. We wholeheartedly encourage other businesses to step up and host wish reveal events—these moments are priceless for families and team culture alike.
